Geraldine's New Spinal Cord injury Blog

Posted by thegeraldinelavelletrust on July 6, 2017 at 9:15 AM

Three years post her injury and Geraldine is continuing to rebuild her independence and live life to the full again, working and doing day to day tasks with minimal assistance.

Geraldine has recently started a new blog to provide support and advice to other newly injured spinal cord people and their families. Thousands of individuals are affected each year with spinal cord injuries (SCI). SCIs are among the most devastating life events one can experience. Life post injury changes dramatically and is often never the same again. The rehabilitation path to either recovery, rehabilitation and/or independent living is extremely difficult.

Geraldine knows that although loved ones can support and offer help, often the support and advice from another person living with a SCI is invaluable as this person understands completely the full physical and emotional consequences of an SCI.

Geraldine’s blog aims to offer support and assistance to others in similar situations, by providing insights and tips on important issues of exercise, health, transferring, resilience, personal grooming and socialising etc. Geraldine uses the blog as a means of showing ways of relearning day to day tasks that were once took for granted. Geraldine provides links to products and services that she herself finds useful.

Feel free to read Geraldine's blog and leave comments and suggestions if you know about something that may have helped you or a family member or friend in regaining some of your independence post SCI.

Spinal cord injuries are unique to each individual so remember what works for one person may not work for someone else. All SCI's are different and hence, what works for one person may not work for everyone, depending on different health issues.
